RELATING TO CAPITAL PROJECTS; AMENDING THE ADOPTED CAPITAL IMPLEMENTATION PROGRAM (CIP) OF THE CITY OF ALBUQUERQUE BY DESIGNATING FUNDING FOR A NEW PROJECT.

WHEREAS, The 2007 Capital Improvement Plan included funding for a West Central Metropolitan Redevelopment Area (MRA) Project; and

WHEREAS, a portion of the 2007 West Central MRA funding was used in the construction of the Central and Unser Library, and there remains an unused balance of approximately $498,000; and

WHEREAS, growth and increased retail activity at the intersection of 98th Street and Central Avenue has necessitated the need for improvements to the intersection; and

WHEREAS, the cost estimate for the 98th Street and Central Avenue improvements is approximately $203,000; and

WHEREAS, the improvements at 98th Street and Central Avenue fit within the existing scope of the 2007 West Central MRA project; and

WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the City of Albuquerque for this project to be completed quickly and to have the improvements done at a favorable cost.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL, THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF ALBUQUERQUE:

Section 1.  That $203,000 is hereby designated from the existing Capital Implementation Program 2007 West Central MRA project, activity # 7357020, for improvements to the 98th Street and Central Avenue Intersection.
